Installing Ajax Control Toolkit in Visual Studio Web Developer 2010 Tutorial

In this Tutorial we will be going over how to install the Microsoft Control Kit in Visual Studio Web Developer 2010.
The Ajax Control Toolkit is a Very Rich and Powerful set of controls that enable you to build highly responsive & dynamic Ajax-Enabled ASP.NET Web Forms applications.

Yes, it is possible to find a good web host. Sometimes it takes a while. After trying several, we went with Server Intellect and have been very happy. They are the most professional, customer service friendly and technically knowledgeable host we've found so far.

First Things first, let’s download the Ajax control Kit; you can download the Latest Version from CodePlex.  Click the download Tab at the codeplex site to see the latest available downloads of the Ajax control Toolkit downloads. Since we are using Visual Studio Web developer 2010 then we can either download .NET 3.5 or the Latest .NET 4.0 version of Ajax control Toolkit.

Please Download the Binary version and not the source version of the Ajax Control Toolkit. You should only downlo0ad the source version if you are interested in extending the Ajax Control Toolkit.

We chose Server Intellect for its dedicated servers, for our web hosting. They have managed to handle virtually everything for us, from start to finish. And their customer service is stellar.

Once the Ajax control Toolkit has finished downloading, you will need to extract the contents of the zip file. Extract the files to a location you will remember for later use. I drag over the folder to my desktop for ease of access.

Adding the Ajax Control Took Kit to Visual Studio Web Developer 2010

1.     Open Visual Studio Web Developer 2010 and create a new ASP.NET Web Form website or Project. Open the Default.aspx file in the visual Editor
2.     We’re going to create a new toolbox, by right clicking the toolbox tab and choosing Add Tab, Name that Tab Ajax control Toolkit.
3.     Right click beneath our newly created Tab and select the menu option Choose Items… once you see the Browse butting, browse to where we saved our extracted files earlier, I saved them in the Desktop section of my computer. Pick the ajaxcontroltoolkit.dll and click ok button to close the choose tool box items.
4.     It should take a few moments to load, once it has finished loading you will see you new Tab Named Ajax Control Tooklit

We are using Server Intellect and have found that by far, they are the most friendly, responsive, and knowledgeable support team we've ever dealt with!
